10/100 Connections Among All PCs
1. Within a school, each workstation is connected to
the network via a 10/100/1000 network card.
Administrator’s Plus software resides on the
workstation and the data resides on the server.
Updates to Administrator’s Plus software are
downloaded from the Rediker Software FTP site. The
auto update feature upgrades each workstation to the
latest version of the program automatically.
On a wide area network with 10/100/1000 connections
between buildings, users of Administrator’s Plus can
log into any school and view the data for that
school. The Rediker Software District Office can
access all data from all schools live and create
summary reports including all schools. The district
office can register, transfer and withdraw students
anywhere in the district.
10/100 Connections within A School / T1 Connections To Other Buildings
2. Within a school, each workstation is connected to the network via a 10/100/1000 network card. Administrator’s Plus software resides on the workstation and the data resides on the server. Updates to Administrator’s Plus software are downloaded from the Rediker Software FTP site. The auto update feature upgrades each workstation to the latest version of the program automatically. On a wide area network with T1 connections between servers in the various schools, Administrator’s Plus in each school would automatically post current data to an FTP site every evening. This data would then be automatically placed into the District Control Module to be used for summary reports from the previous day’s data.
PCs Connected to the Internet/T1 Among PCs
3. In a school system with T1 connections, an Application Service Provider (ASP) model is possible (e.g. Microsoft Terminal Services or Citrix). Each PC or Mac is a terminal on the central server. All data and programs reside on this server. Data for all schools and for District Control would be current and optionally available on the web. All Administrator’s Plus functionality is maintained, such as right click features and multiple windows.

Database Server
- If running the Standard edition of SQL Server, a minimum of 1 gigabyte of memory is recommended, with 2 gigabytes preferred.
- If running the MSDE edition of SQL Server, a minimum of 512 megabytes of memory is recommended.
- 40-gigabyte disk drive will be sufficient at the school cafeteria installation.
- For a QSPHUB installation the minimum would be an 80-gigabyte disk drive, with more being required for larger districts.
- It is recommended that the central office server be configured with at least 2 physical disk drives.
- We recommend that every database server must have a backup device attached to it, or it must be part of a network setup that allows for servers to be backed up from a central operations center, including cafeterias. We strongly encourage backups, but they are not required.
Database Server Operating System
- Windows 2000 Professional (supports MSDE), Windows 2000 Server (supports Standard and MSDE editions), Windows XPPRO (supports MSDE), or Windows 2003 Server (supports Standard and MSDE editions). Due to stability and support issues we do not support running any edition of SQL Server on a computer running Windows 98. For QSP HUB and FORMAT, the server will require a server level operating system.
- QSP is currently not supported on any 64-bit operating system.
Microsoft SQL Server
- Microsoft SQL Server – SQL Server 2000 Standard edition or SQL Server 2000 MSDE edition, service pack 3
QSP Terminal
- If running only the QSP application a minimum of 512 megabytes of memory is required.

Off-Site Data Backup
- Only data from Rediker Software's Administrator’s Plus is sent to our servers. This service is not
available for School Office Suite programs.
- The Deluxe Backup Service should be used as a supplemental backup system. Your school must still regularly backup its entire hard drive, which includes other programs besides those from Rediker Software.
- Due to their large size, portfolio files and program executable files are not included in the Data Backup Service, unless by special arrangement. These items should be backed up by your normal backup procedures.
- Rediker Software’s servers provide mirrored drives and an additional tape backup for secure and reliable storage of your Administrator’s Plus data.
- The Deluxe Data Backup Service offers up to one megabyte of storage per student. If a school reaches the one megabyte quota, the school can purchase additional storage space or delete older files to make room for additional backups.
